Ireland

just me barging in :)

Hi my chickdees! I'm posting rather than emailing Shona because I brought my new Netbook on my trip instead of my laptop, and I don't have ANY information on this little leprechaun of a machine, including my email address book. I hope everybody is excited and nearly reaady to MEET EACH OTHER!!!! It looks like I'll be the last to arrive. I can either get transportation from the airport when I arrive in the late afternoon on the 31st, or from the Holiday Inn where my mother will be staying. Transportation is my only worry right now, so if Shona would give me a clue (since I haven't one), that would put my mind at ease. Ireland is wonderful, but I'm sure Scotland will be far superior and I can't WAIT!!!! Be safe, everyonee, and I will write more in a more appropriate place as soon as I find a good time and place. <3333333333

*SMOOOOOOCH*!

Introduce Yourselves

Hey everyone! This is a two-fold post:

1) I wanted to check in on everyone's plans. Could you let me know what dates you'll be arriving, seeing as I think we're not all going to be here for the entire long weekend?

2) This is an introduction post! alliecat8 rightly pointed out to me that we don't all know each other yet - and we really, really should! Use the comments here to introduce yourself to each other in time for the meet up. Take my word for it: you are all absolutely awesome

I'm also going to have a post later in the week for us to brain-storm a (very) rough schedule of exactly what we want to get up to and on what days.

travel plans + other stuffz

I have been terrible at making arrangements and plans with you guys (totally absent-minded!) but I thought I would check in to see how your travel plans are going. Anyone booked their tickets yet? Have any tips on where people ought to check for flights and suchlike?

I was also wondering if anyone might be willing to volunteer to spear-head our food and/or entertainment arrangements. There are a lot of fun things to do in Edinburgh.

Attendance Poll

I thought that, with about three months to go, now might be a good time to get a head-count:

Poll #1555973 Attendance

Name one thing you'd really, really like to do while you're here

What should we get up to?

Hey, guys.

It's been a while since I posted. If the dates 30th of July to the 2nd of August are good for everyone, the next thing to think about is probably what you guys would like to get up to while you're here. Edinburgh's tourist information is here. Is there anything in particular you'd like to do or see in the city?

Dates

As it turns out, I might not have access to my flat during the Fringe due to my flat-mate's family-friends staying here. Would meeting up in Edinburgh on the 30th of July to the 2nd of August be alright for people? If not, we could look into another location.

First Post

Hi guys!

zelda_zee suggested that I made a community for the planning of the meet-up, and she is a genius so I went ahead and did it. The plans are all in a very fuzzy stage at the moment so it's all up in the air. I've offered to let people stay in my flat in Edinburgh for a long weekend during summer (I can't really offer longer than that seeing as I should be working full-time in Perth during summer).

We're thinking about either the end of July or the start of August for a meet. If it's during August, we would be able to do some Fringe events together. The Fringe is a big theatre and comedy festival that takes over Edinburgh for the month. In 2010, it starts on the 6th of August. My main concern with the Fringe would be whether or not it makes travel more expensive for you guys, so let me know whether or not it's feasible.

At the moment, it looks like the best dates would be either the 29th of July to the 2nd of August, or the 6th to 9th of August. Any thoughts?
